MISSION
 
Institute of Veterinary Medicine (IVM) is a leading veterinary research organization of Mongolia which is implementing research projects on study animal infectious, non-infectious diseases and its diagnostic, therapeutic and prophylactic methods and measures and to improve manufacturing technology of and develop new technology for veterinary drugs and bio-preparations.
 
INTRODUCTION
 
The Institute of Veterinary Medicine was established as a branch of Research Institute of Animal Husbandry in 1961, and became an independent research Institute of Veterinary and Medicine in 1987. Currently, in total 5 meritorious veterinarian of Mongolia, 2 meritorious scientist of Mongolia, 11 State prize laureates, 7 members of Mongolian Academy of Sciences, 1 member of Euro-Asian International Academy of Sciences and 5 members of Academy of Agricultural Sciences. 9 owners of scientific discoveries, 21 doctors of sciences, 130 PhDs have been prepared by the Institute. As a foremost veterinary scientific organization in Mongolia, the Institute of Veterinary Medicine is nationally recognized and acknowledged for its researches on various infectious, parasitic and noninfectious diseases of animals, measures for diagnosing, curing and preventing the animal diseases, and development of novel veterinary drugs and advanced technologies.
 
MAIN RESEARCH AREA
 
  • Upgrade the disease-free status of Mongolia, focusing on the research of highly contagious and infectious diseases that affect the economy and livelihood of herders
  • Strengthen the capacity of the institute toward the improvement of effects of previously developed veterinary products and vaccines
  • Promote research focusing on zoonosis of domestic and wild animals and studies of public health and food safety
  • Bridge the gaps between the scientists working in different fields of both veterinary and human medicine by promoting interdisciplinary approaches to sciences
  • Provide leadership, demonstrating the excellence of research and application of research outcomes in veterinary medical practice
